https://5il.co/3ceid

In an order to hopefully prevent sewers from backing up into homes throughout the City of Burns due to the failure of the sewer system from the infiltration of flood waters , the city will be discharging in the ditches down the nature trail. The flows will not be directly going on the trail but through the ditches to the treatment facility. For safety reasons, as bypass operations are underway, please stay off and away from the nature trail or equipment being used to pump. This is an attempt to prevent damage to the rest of our community and their property that has not already been damaged from the flood waters. We understand these are trying and confusing times, but the safety of our community and it's members is and always will be top priority for the City of Burns. We appreciate your understanding while we navigate through these difficult times.

The City of Burns would like to clear up any confusion there may be about the city's water being shut off. The city will NOT be turning the water off. I apologize if anyone has been misinformed. We know with all the emotions and chaos things can get mixed up. If anyone has questions please call City Hall. If that were ever to change at any point please know the City of Burns will make the residents aware right away.

The City of Burns would like to ask that the community stay off and away from the nature trail as the crews will be discharging sewer overflow into the discharge field to try and mitigate the infiltration of flood water into the city's sewer system. We will be posting Hazard signs on and around the trail so it will be marked, but please spread the word as well so we can keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.

PUBLIC NOTICE: The City of Burns would like to make the community aware that the city may be experiencing water pressure issues due to the fact that a fire hydrant was damaged down in the flood area. We want everyone to know that the water is still safe and there are no worries of contamination at this time. The crews are working diligently to try and mitigate this issue . We appreciate everyone's patience while we guide our way through all these tragic events. We are so thankful for all the agencies as well as everyone else in the community who has stepped in to help. Our thoughts are with everyone being effected. Please stay safe and reach out for help if you need it.

The City of Burns and the Burns Police Department want to remind the community that, even under normal circumstances, members of our community experience loss, personal tragedy, economic hardship, and personal struggles with alcohol or substance use. Especially during these emergency events, members of our community are experiencing dramatic stressors and a sense of uncertainty that can have a dramatic effect on our emotional, mental, and physical well-being.

PUBLIC NOTICE: We are asking the entire area, and especially the residents of the City Of Burns, to be mindful of water usage to help protect our sewer system. Please be mindful of flushing, mindful of showers, and try to minimize your water usage in general. This will help take pressure off of the lagoons as we are already at full capacity. Thank you so much for helping us and for working together so we can get through this as soon as possible.

PUBLIC NOTICE: The City of Burns would like to ask people to stop diverting water onto other properties. Do no erect barriers in the streets to divert the water. This can be a hazard as these are evacuation routes and you could be charged with disorderly conduct in the 2nd degree in addition to being liable for any damages to the neighboring property or properties by that diversion. We understand that these are very scary and unsure times and people are wanting to save their homes and property, but please do not put yourself or other people in danger or damage someone else's property by trying to do so. There are many people working very diligently to try and do what they can to mitigate the problem and they will continue to do so.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Due to the flooding, the Burns sewer system is being inundated and people may possibly start noticing sewage backing up into their homes . If you are being effected, please contact City Hall. At this time we are unsure which agency will be handling all of these things, but we suggest that people contact their insurance companies as well if they are being effected. We will be making a list and keeping track of the people and addresses that are being effected until we know who will be handling those things. We will keep you updated as we have more information. Please as safe as possible and call 911 if you are in any danger. For more information, you can also call the Emergency Management Information Line for at 541-589-0112.

As evacuations are being conducted, Hines will be allowing people with camp trailers to park at the Hines Park. If they see this resource being utilized then they will also get some portable restrooms and handwashing stations from EM.

PUBLIC NOTICE: If anyone needs assistance with sand bagging or something concerning the flooding please call the City of Burns at 541-573-5255. We have resources and teams that can help assist. Please watch and follow the evacuation orders and be as safe as possible while all this is going on .

PUBLIC NOTICE : The City of Burns has a complete sewer failure from the Paiute Reservation to the Triangle Park. The Public Works are working diligently to do what they can but they are not sure how much longer they can hold the levee and the North part of town will flood if that happens and may not have sewer. We don't have any answers right now but we will keep you updated as anything comes in. If you feel in unsafe at anytime, please call 911 or reach out to Emergency Management at 541-589-0918.
