The City of Burns has been working on a water main break down Broadway to East Elm since the very early hours of this morning. After working all day, they managed to fix that break, just to come across another right after. They will continue working into the evening to fix this break as well. Expect some water interruptions . Please exercise caution while driving in the area where our crew is working. Thank you .

The City of Burns and the HCSO have entered into an intergovernmental agreement. Chief McCartney resigned on October 2, 2025. HCSO sergeant Robby Tiller has stepped in to be the interim Chief of Police for the Burns Police Department. This agreement will provide continued leadership for the Burns Police Department and public safety in Burns and on the Burns Paiute reservation.
The City of Burns appreciates the collaboration with the HCSO.

Burns Chief of Police Position:

General Duties: The Chief of Police manages and directs all aspects and operations of the Burns Police Department,
including, without limitation, criminal investigations, community policing, crime prevention, and planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of department personnel. The Chief of Police is responsible for the development and implementation of department budgets, goals, and objectives. The Chief of Police provides managerial expertise and citywide organizational issues and advises the City Manager and Council on public safety and other matters. The Chief of Police works under the general guidance and direction of the City Manager.

City Public Works Crews will be working on locating a Water Main Break in the W. E st and N. Alvord Ave area. Expect water interruptions throughout the day in this area.  Please be careful driving while our crews are working on the issue.
