General Duties: The Chief of Police manages and directs all aspects and operations of the Burns Police Department, including, without limitation, criminal investigations, community policing, crime prevention, and planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of department personnel. The Chief of Police is responsible for the development and implementation of department budgets, goals, and objectives. The Chief of Police provides managerial expertise and citywide organizational issues and advises the City Manager and Council on public safety and other matters. The Chief of Police works under the general guidance and direction of the City Manager.
City Public Works Crews will be working on locating a Water Main Break in the W. E st and N. Alvord Ave area. Expect water interruptions throughout the day in this area. Please be careful driving while our crews are working on the issue.

The City of Burns is proud to announce the Outstanding Performance of our Water System. A recent water system survey was conducted with the Oregon Health Authority the main purpose of the survey is evaluate the entire water system in terms of supplying safe drinking water to the public. Water systems facilities and records were found to be well maintained. No significant deficiencies or rule violations. As an outstanding performer it takes a collective effort of our entire team and immense pride we play to ensure our community has access to clean and safe drinking water from maintaining water quality to improving infrastructure and implementing innovative technologies.
